One-Click DM Workflow

How we went from a 6-step scavenger hunt across two browser tabs to a single click that copies, opens, and marks.

The problem

The nominees page had a DM workflow that required 6 clicks across 2 browser tabs:

  • Click "Copy DM" — opens a preview panel (doesn't actually copy)
  • Read the preview, click "Copy & mark sent" — now it copies
  • Click "X profile" — opens new tab
  • Find the DM/envelope icon on their X profile
  • Paste the message, hit Send
  • Switch back to nominees tab, find your place
  • ~45 seconds per prospect. At that rate, DMing 20 people takes 15 minutes of tedious tab-switching.

    The fix

    One button: "DM @handle"

When you click it, three things happen simultaneously:

  • Clipboard: personalized DM copied (includes what they're building)
  • Browser: X DM compose opens via deep link with recipient_id
  • Database: nominee marked as DM'd, card fades out, next prospect slides up
  • Session counter tracks your streak. Default filter shows only un-DM'd prospects.

    The result

  • 6 clicks → 1 click (83% fewer decisions)
  • ~45s → ~8s per prospect (5.6× faster)
  • 20 DMs in under 3 minutes instead of 15
  • The key insight: every extra click in a repetitive workflow isn't just time — it's a decision point where you can lose momentum and stop. Remove the clicks, remove the quitting points.
